After taking a brief break to relocate we’re back to celebrate our one year anniversary with five brand new heavy hitters to carry us into the spring. Thanks so much to everyone for all the support over the last year.

Shearing Pinx- Live Thunder, documents a night charged with violent energy. “The improv was emotional and intense. The songs explosive and sharp.” This 32-minute 2-piece live set features two of the heaviest jams from their most recent Divorce Records LP, Weaponry along with 11 other tracks in the spirit of Sightings or old Hair Police, and a raging cover of Spray Paint. Limited to 50 copies.

Get A Life LosersHot Dad is 5 tracks of spazzed-out feedback bends, bowel-shaking low-end, visceral howls, and driving rhythms. “Picture the Minutemen & Modern Lovers freaking out with James Chance and the Contortions but way louder and wilder.” (The Distraction.ca) Limited to 50 copies (half of which are already sold out).

Congratulations features members of Holy Cobras, Tension Slips, and Knifemare. Their self-titled debut is a mash of tape samples, blown-out trash beats, and slick rhymes cutting through a haze of weed smoke. There’s a cover of Transmission on here with Gary Numan’s Cars as the backbeat. Seriously. This shit is nuts. Limited to 50 copies with trash-wrapped cases and full-colour wallet-sized band photo.

Congratulations- S/T. Limited to 50 Copies.

December 5th, 2009 marked the end for howling heroes of the local basement scene, Army of Saint Joan. Limited to 100 blood-splattered copies with zine insert.

Just a quick reminder that Grand Trine’s Sunglasses 12″ is now available to order from Divorce Records. Limited 600 copies, half of which are already gone. Expect this EP to be making a lot of best of lists come year end.

:::COMING SOON::: Holy Cobras- Live From the Spacement, The Felines S/T C15, Self Surgery/Schizophasia Split, and debuts from Total Crush and Pregnancy Scares.

Movin’ on up

We’re moving BT HQ a couple blocks away, so things have been pretty hectic since the New Years Eve mega party with Holy Cobras, Homosexual Cops, Suppositories, Pregnancy Scares, Total Crush, and Get a Life Losers.

We’re teaming up with Capital Distraction to bring the Cobras back together with everyone’s favouite Montreal/Bruised Tongue/Campaign for Infinity/Divorce proto-punk masters: the mighty Grand Trine. Joining them will be The Blind Shake from Minneapolis.  3-piece heavy baritone psych groovers we’re all pretty excited about. It’s all happening Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00pm at Babylon.

Crazy Ocean + Self Surgery = Total Crush, who will be playing with Montreal’s Red Mass at Rock n’ Roll Pizza Party at Atomic Rooster January 22nd.  This week is stacked.

Much more news on the way, and plenty of new releases for the new year once we get things up and running in the new location.  Hopefully having a proper office means we’ll be able to take things up a notch as far as organization and water-cooler chat is concerned. Office punk.

We’ll post shots of the Army of Saint Joan c40 and the Nervous System reissue as well! Frig.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!! Very excited for 2010.

Rolling Balls

I’m going to keep the hot streak going today and link you to some more photos of some of us kids that Andrew Carver shot a while ago of Fucked Corpse and Wrist Pain when we put on a shin-dig at Irene’s with The Famines.

In the Cave

We have a lot of amazing and exciting things in the works. New releases out very soon with bands like The Sedatives, The Night Game Cult, Army of Saint Joan, Self Surgery, Adam Saikaley, and Last Communion.

You may have also seen a few people wandering the streets wearing Bruised Tongue t-shirts around lately and we will have some for sale in the very near future.

We had a house party at Bruised Tongue HQ recently with our pals from Montreal Dead Wife came over, played with Army of Saint Joan (tape release very soon!), Cousins of Reggae, Michigan bangers Sick Llama and Cotton Museum and our very own Self Surgery.

Dave Forcier took some photos of the place totally packed, the rest of which can be seen here.
